Carmelina & Anna Maria D’Amico

Carmelina & Anna Maria D’Amico

We decided to look after my mother-in-law because she gave so much to us, and it was our turn to give back to her. She was always a very loving person. Even though she has Alzheimer’s it has taught me a lot of stuff personally.

Keeping her at home has extended and given her a better quality of life. When we took her to the day-care, she was happy there. She just blended in.

I’d put her to bed at night and, as I tucked her in, she’d give me a kiss. She would say, "May you blossom."

Only because of the day-care can we look after her. We have to look after each other. Without the family you have nothing.
