Become a Financial Literacy volunteer

United Way Toronto’s Financial Literacy strategy is aimed at helping low-income individuals make sound financial decisions while providing them with access to banking services and a means to deal with debt reduction and saving. Financial Literacy helps alleviate the deepening poverty and potentially return financial revenues back to benefit our city’s economy. As a volunteer, you will help increase the capacity of agencies to deliver workshops directly to low-income people who are looking to build the skills they need to better manage their money and make informed financial decisions. Visit our Financial Literacy web pages or contact us by email at provol@uwgt.org to learn more.

Professional Volunteer
East Metro Youth Services

East Metro Youth Services is seeking a Professional Volunteer to create a development strategy which focuses on potential individual and corporate donors. Within that strategy, we hope to execute a fundraising event within the next 12 months, which would also raise the agency’s profile in the East Toronto, form relationships with local businesses and high potential donors, and develop the EMYS brand. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with expertise to initiate a new development endeavor, with considerable scope and autonomy. This position is an opportunity for a take charge individual who has a successful track record in fundraising/development and/or a corporate executive who wishes to expand his/her skill set. Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills are required, as is a talent for engaging people in philanthropic relationships in support of their community. EMYS offers flexibility, with the option of working when and where it is most convenient for the Professional Volunteer. Occasional meetings will be required at our head office. If interested, please contact Julie Gircys at 416-438-3697 ext. 264 or jgircys@emys.on.ca.
