UNITED WAY TORONTO'S FINANCIAL LITERACY STRATEGY RECEIVES CRITICAL SUPPORT IN TIME OF UNCERTAINTY
TD Bank Group has committed a further $500,000 over three years to support United Way Toronto’s Financial Literacy Strategy, thereby bringing its total commitment to the project to $1 million. In 2009, TD had announced an initial contribution of $500,000 for the first phase of the strategy.

UNITED WAY TORONTO INVESTING $78.7-MILLION IN THE COMMUNITY
In 2011, United Way Toronto will invest $78.7-million in our member agencies, including a one-time investment of almost $1-million for agencies to use to respond to needs in the community, said United Way Toronto President and CEO Susan McIsaac today at the organization’s Annual General Meeting. The investment will fund front-line services through a network of agencies that support people when they need it most. United Way funds will go even further by supporting strategies aimed at improving under-served neighbourhoods by addressing systemic barriers that limit opportunity for a good life.

“RAT” RUNNERS RACE FOR THE CHEESE
Toronto’s downtown streets were crawling with “rats” as more than a thousand people laced up their runners as part of the Scotiabank Rat Race for United Way. The racers donned rat ears and whiskers and then took to the streets in support of the community.

After a review and RFP process, United Way Toronto has selected BBDO Toronto as its new Agency of Record. The agency will support the organization’s re-designed brand framework across all touch points and provide additional consultation to further develop the organization’s online communications channels.
