GenNext Women's networking event and Leadership talk at Sistering on May 19
On Wednesday, May 19th, over 50 GenNext Women networked with like-minded women, gained valuable insight on Leadership and purchased art made by local women artists at Sistering's Inspiration and Spun Studios.
Harleen Bains, Managing Director, Interest Rate Derivatives at RBC Capital Markets shared her experiences and views on how philanthropy has played an integral role in her leadership development. Harleen is also a member of United Way Toronto's Women Gaining Ground Initiative, an initiative that brings together professional women in Toronto who are interested in learning more about the social issues affecting our community - particularly as they affect women and their families.
The studio sale raised $1,256, which goes directly to the artists. Thank you to all of our guests and our volunteers who made the first GenNext Women and Leadership event a tremendous success.

Sistering's Inspiration and Spun Studios
Sistering is a women's organization that offers practical and emotional support to women through programs that enable them to take greater control over their lives. Guided by the principles of Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression, Sistering works to change social conditions that endanger women's welfare.
Sistering, a United Way member agency, operates a multi-service center for women who have been affected by poverty, homelessness, trauma and displacement. The core services offered are basic needs for daily living, housing support services, counseling, individual advocacy and income and employment supports. By supporting United Way, you help provide core operating support to Sistering, providing them with stability to develop and respond to emerging needs of women in the community.

GiveADamn Day: Wednesday February 24
On Wednesday, February 24th, GenNext held their very first GiveADamn day of the new year! GiveADamn events provide GenNexters with the opportunity to participate in community engagement events across the city. On February 24th, the event consisted of 3 separate United Way member agency tours and were attended by a variety of young professionals.
The event was a great success! At St.Alban’s Boys' and Girls' Club and St.Christopher’s House, GenNexters were able to learn about the vast number of programs and services that are offered to the local community. At Sistering Inspirations studio, GenNexters observed pottery in the making and were able to interact with the women who benefit from the studio services. It was incredible to see the amazing artwork that is produced and sold from the women at Inspirations studio.
Following the tours, GenNexters met at the College Street bar to share their stories and experiences from their tours. The energy and enthusiasm about the events of the evening was amazing…it was great to see how many people Gave a Damn!
